Ronn and I are heading to Vancouver this weekend to visit a dear friend of mine who has been ill. His name is David Chan and he was a Playboy photographer for over 30 years. A native of Vancouver, David lived and worked in Chicago most of his career until his health declined in recent years. I haven’t seen him in 6 years and am excited to introduce him to Ronn. He is 80 years old now, has trouble walking and hearing, but is still the same sweet wonderful man he’s always been. I credit David for discovering me when I was attending LSU back in 1981 and he shot my first appearance in Playboy. David has never been married or has children, so we sort of adopted each other a long time ago and he truly has been like a father to me. I visited Vancouver once many years ago when I spent Christmas with David and his family. He had a lot of brothers and sisters back then who have since passed away, so I really want him to know that he has me. Ronn has never been to Vancouver, which is truly beautiful, so I’ll post pictures of our stay later. Here is an article from People magazine that I found from 1988 that tells you a little bit about David and this was pretty much how he discovered the pinup in me.
Love Devin

Hi Deving, Mr. Chan sounds like the kind of guy anyone in the Playboy biz needs. You were definitely lucky to have a nice person like him.
In May I’ll be in Canada also. Though I will be in Toronto. My nephew is Adam Crossley, the singer/songwriter (he’s on myspace). He and wife live 5 hours from my sister and mother in PA, so I’m making a round trip. Love Canada, and where I’m going is an old victorian area.
I hope you have a great trip and reunion with your friend. Have a safe journey, Lilian
Devin, I’ve often wondered how David was doing and where he was. Do you remember the New Year’s Eve party in the condo on N. Sheridan Rd. where all of us celebrated with Lori and Barry? I have great pics that I’ll scan and try to upload. I can’t wait for you to post pics. I absolutely love and adore David.
Thanks so much Karen, I don’t remember that? Would love to see the pics. Am really looking forward to seeing David, Love Devin
Morning Devin, Sorry I msp. your name in comment. Trying to type too fast.
While I’m in here, just thought I’d pass along this story (local). A developer friend of my husband’s became a hero yesterday by saving a man who tried to commit suicide off the Causeway Bridge. His name is John Crosby (he build Sean Payton’s (Saints coach) house, among others). Freaked us all out in a good way. It was dangerous, however, because Lake Ponchartrain is not that deep and both of them could have broken their necks. He just so happened to be behind the jumper’s vehicle when this happened, and the rest is history. Very humble man to hear him tell it.
Hope all went well at the dentist….gotta save that pretty smile!
Take care, Lilian
