  • 2 slabs of baby back ribs
  • 1 cup KC Masterpiece® Southern Style Barbecue Sauce (New Flavor!)

Dry Rub

  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 4 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning

Liquid Seasoning

  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup apple jelly
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Dry rub generously

Remove the membrane from the back of the rib slabs. In a small bowl, combine the dry rub ingredients and mix well. Reserve one tablespoon of the rub for the liquid seasoning mixture. Generously apply the dry rub onto the front and back sides of the ribs.

Build a charcoal fire for indirect cooking with Kingsford® charcoal. Add a small aluminum pan to the void side of the grill and fill in halfway with water. When the charcoal grill reaches 250 degrees Fahrenheit, place ribs meat-side up on the grill grate and cook over indirect heat for two hours and 15 minutes.

Remove the ribs from the grill. Place each slab meat-side down on its own doubled aluminum foil square. Mix the liquid seasoning in a small bowl. Pour 1/2 cup on the liquid over each slab. Then, tightly wrap and seal each slab with aluminum foil. Place the wrapped ribs back in cooker for one hour at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remove the ribs from the charcoal grill and discard foil. Brush KC Masterpiece® Southern Style Barbecue Sauce on both sides of the ribs. Place the ribs back on the grill for 15 minutes, or until sauce caramelizes.

As most of you know, I’ve been studying for the past few months for my salesperson’s real estate license. It’s been trying because I’ve been waiting for the state to give me a test date, so that put a bit of stress on me on top of dealing with taxes, kids and events. It’s such a relief to have finally taken that test and I’ll know by next week if I passed. During the past few months, my health hasn’t been the best. I’ve been on hormone replacement therapy for a few months now and things are getting better, but my blood sugar had sky rocketed to the borderline of diabetes and that was scary. So my doctor has put me on a strict detox program for the next three weeks. I must stay away from dairy, sugar, wheat and liquor.  I  have  two liquid meals of this detox powder, fiber, greens and berries, along with one lunch, in which, I can have 6 0z of chicken, salmon, beans or lean organic beef and that’s it! So Ronn and the girls are helping me out by feeding themselves so I’m not tempted. It’s been three days and so far I’m handling it pretty well. I know it’s important to my health and I’m really being quite strict with it, along with drinking 80 ounces of water a day. I also workout 4-6 days a week and want to get my body, mind and spirit back in balance before my 48th birthday next month. Sometimes I have so much going on and my focus is on everything else that I neglect really taking care of me. So it’s nice to be quiet and focus on doing that now. I had a fun time working with my friend stunt coordinator Wally Crowder on the HBO show, “Hung” the other day. I did a stunt in a restaurant scene in which

Anne Heche
Thomas Jane

Thomas Jane punches out a guy who is on a date with his ex-wife played by Anne Heche. The guy fall onto the next table in which I’m sitting at and falls on me! I’ve done a few stunts, mostly driving, but nothing dangerous. It’s really fun for me cause I learn new things and get to hang out with my pal Wally and meet new people. I’ve never seen “Hung” before and look forward to watching it now.  Last week Ronn and I were in Cabo for

Shawna and Lorenzo Lamas Craig

Lorenzo Lamas’ wedding to Shawna Craig. We were both in the wedding party and had a great time, then today I was surprised to get a

Hef and Crystal's wedding invite

wedding invitation to Hef’s wedding on June 18th. His wedding will be televised and should be a blast, so Ronn and I are looking forward to attending. Summer is always so busy for us with events, parties and kid stuff, so I’m sure we will have a lot to share all summer long.

Ronn and I had a wonderful Easter spent at the Playboy mansion with great friends such as Playmates, Barbara Moore, Ola Ray, Victoria Fuller, Shannon Tweed, Luann Lee and Jacqueline Sheen. There is always a petting zoo for the kids and this year had exotic animals such as a baby fox, kangaroo, turtles, chicks and alligator and rabbits of course. The kids always have a blast on the Easter egg hunt for the famous hand painted eggs. Gene Simmons, Sandra Taylor, Julie McCullough and Scott Baio were just of a few celebrities joining in on all the fun. We then headed over to my pal Tina Hillstrom’s Easter dinner filled with a colorful table of ham, potato salad and yummy treats to top off an already amazing day filled with blessings. We hope your Easter was a fun filled one spent with loved ones and blessed with love and joy!

I never thought I’d be saying this about my friend Prince in concert, but last night sucked a big one! Now I’ve seen him many times before during his “Purple Rain” tour and after so I always thought he was more than worth the price of a ticket. But last night was a complete joke. Ronn had never seen him and because of that I wanted the best seats possible. Also thought maybe he’d see me in the first row and I’d get to reconnect with him and say hello. Well the stage was shaped in that symbol he uses and was built so high that even the people that spent $2000 a ticket for the VIP sections had trouble seeing the stage. I mean I”ve never seen anything like this ever. Maybe you’d get a glimpse of him when he came around the stage, but for the most part you had to stand and strain your neck to see any action since he was in the middle of it most of the time. We had what I thought would be primo seats in the first row center that turned into the back of the drummer’s head! None of the floor seats allowed you to really get a good view of the stage. The center upper sections which were much cheaper were way better because not only could you see the stage, you could see the large monitor screens of the performances. Chaka Khan opened the show and Larry Graham was added to the NPG band and a couple solos with Prince and looked like they would be great if only we could hear it?  The lighting was also bad throughout the show sometimes there was no light at all on him. The sound wasn’t great either as it had a lot of echo and all you could really hear was bass in our section on the floor. All in all not one of this finer moments. Certainly not worth the money people paid for what they thought they were getting. You left there feeling totally ripped off and royally disappointed. I’ve always known Prince to be a perfectionist, especially in concert! So this was such a surprise to see happen with Ronn of all people. We both were so looking forward to seeing the show and I just couldn’t believe Prince would allow tickets to be sold to die hard fans in this crappy way. I’m speaking out so that you know not to waste your money on floor seats period. Best to get  upper center seats and at least see the stage and possibly hear some of the music. Ronn and I were so turned off that I don’t think we will want to see another concert ever again. He thought it was actually the worst concert he’d ever seen and I thought that was ironic because Prince was always the best concert I’d had ever seen, but last night I had to agree with him as I think everyone that had floor seats would also.  I think Prince would have been as awesome as usual if only we could have seen and heard him!

Lori, Winsor and Wally

Our pals Wally and Lori Crowder invited us to meet Kirstie Alley at an Organic bash she threw in Hollywood. Her new weight loss venture is an organic line of foods called, “Organic Liaisons.” There were yummy appetizers and desserts passed around and even organic wine! I loved the organic chocolate, wine and lemon cheesecake. Many celebrities were there, including Winsor Harmon, Kelly Preston, Nadia Bjorlin, Brandon Beemer, Christian LeBlanc, Michelle Stafford and singer Dilana who met Ronn years ago in Holland. Dilana was a winner on Supernova and has a wonderful voice. Kirstie gave us a wonderful giftbag filled with organic goodies and she looked fabulous. We are all rooting for her on her upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars!

Ronn, Susan Flannery and crew members

Ronn and I attended the 75th annual DGA awards because B&B’s director Michael Stitch was up an award from the Homeless storyline. We’ve attended these awards before, but it was the first time in this location, which was bigger and much nicer. There was a open bar the whole night and food was delicious. I got really excited to learn that my favorite director Clint Eastwood would be there. I really wanted Ronn to meet him because personally I think Clint would see himself in Ronn.

Carl Reiner and Ronn

Carl Reiner who is 88 years old was the host of the evening as he has been for 20+ years now. We especially enjoyed the history of DGA that was told during the ceremony. Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and Natalie Portman were also in attendance. I was thrilled to briefly meet Clint Eastwood after the show, but he was in a hurry to get home and there wasn’t much time to chat. While we were waiting for our limo, I got to meet

Andrew Garfield and Devin

Andrew Garfield from “Social Network.” Unfortunately, B&B did not win the award, although they should have in my opinion. I was really pleased that “The King’s Speech” took the top honors for Best Director at the end of the night. We look forward to attending the DGAs again next year!

Every year at this time I like to make a list of goals that I want to achieve in the coming year. This helps me to focus and prioritize and you’d be surprised at how much you’ll get done if you look at your list everyday and put a little bit of energy into each goal. So what are your goals for the this new year? I know Ronn and I are planning on doing more videos and photo shoots to share with you! I’m studying diligently for my real estate license and plan to finish my next book. Ronn and PLAYER have lots more concerts planned and we both hope to see a lot more of our friends this year! Seems time is just flying by and with work, kids and our generally busy lives, we just don’t take the time to reflect and cherish our friends enough. Then of course we all must take the time and effort to nourish our health with good food and plenty of exercise. Since I’m recovering from the flu, I totally plan on getting back to eating healthy and can’t wait to get back to the gym! So make a list of your goals and focus on them everyday. Put a little energy into each one of them and then see how much you can achieve by the end of this year.  We are excited to give away prizes to our subscribers on youtube and DevRonn so if you haven’t signed up, now is the time! PLAYER t-shirts will be available next week in our store and we are giving one away to a lucky subscriber from our DevRonn newsletters. Also, Ronn and I will be attending the DGA awards later this month and visiting New Orleans in February.  We hope 2011 is off to a great start and that you have a wonderful and prosperous year ahead!

Potluck Christmas 2010

This past weekend marked the start of our holiday party invites. We attended Heather Tom’s annual Christmas bash and toured her fabulously decorated home. It was our first time but hopefully not our last. Heather throws a first class party! Then I hosted my all girl Potluck with some of my amazing gals. Playmates Barbara Moore, Luanne Lee and Jacqueline Sheen, along with Cindy Margolis, Fiona Horne, Tina Hillstrom and Alana Curry were some of the beauties that made our Potluck so fun and festive. I have been having these Potlucks now for over 15 years and we always have a blast! This year I had to be a little naughty and a little nice, so I dressed as a sexy Santa to keep the girls in line. Trust me, it’s not easy keeping 20 plus girls in line, especially when there are gifts to steal! There was so much fun, happy punch and laughter that we wore out Ronn, who was filming and taking pics of the whole event. No men are allowed at Potlucks, but we made an exception for Ronn due to the fact that he’s such a good camera man!  Until next year……

We hope you all are having as much fun this holiday season as we are having. It’s such an awesome time of the year. A time to reflect on the past year with family and friends and look forward to the future year with hope and anticipation. I love to cook a turkey and make the house as festive as possible. Ronn enjoys playing the guitar and singing with the band and friends visiting. This year we are thrilled to just stay home and enjoy the simple pleasures like trimming the tree with the kids and a few friends. We are also excited about our appearance in the Hollywood Christmas Parade that will air on December 10th. PLAYER did an awesome performance in it and Ronn, Creason, Calee and I get to ride on a float. There are numerous Christmas parties we are attending and I will throw my annual girls, “Potluck Christmas” with all my gorgeous girlfriends. Hope you are enjoying the Happy Christmas video and will spread it around. I did the  fancy camera work and it was the song the band originally wanted to sing in the Hollywood Christmas Parade. PLAYER \”Happy Christmas\”

Ronn and I had a blast at the “Senior Prom Revisited” in Palm Springs. PLAYER was a an honored guest and performed a few songs.

All the band members brought their wives along for this charity event and had a blast. Peter even had a good time with Eden Ayers and Charlie Chaplin.

Peter Beckett

My pal Alana Curry and her boyfriend came along and had a blast.

Later we went to the home of Artist Christina De Musee’ who is a very colorful character.

Palm Springs seems to love PLAYER and they will be performing on a regular basis starting in Jan 2011 on Saturday nights.

They are also putting together a tour with America and Little River Band and will be doing the Hollywood Christmas Parade that will air on CBS.

Right now we are working on new cool PLAYER merchandise and will have more news about appearances, maybe in your area, soon!

The band really rocked their last night in Palm Springs and have been asked to perform at a  prestigious country club’s anniversary party in March.  More appearances are sure to be announced  later as they are confirmed.

We would like to graciously thank Bette King productions for taking such great care of us and all the fans who came out to support PLAYER!

It seems no other city gets into Halloween quite like LA. There are always so many parties and everyone really loves getting into dressing up for them. This year Ronn and I started a week early and attend 4 parties total as Clint Eastwood and Bettie Page. Bet you didn’t know those two were a hot item, huh? Clint and Bettie hung out with Elvis, Devils, Angels and Tippi Hedren, who made a very elegant witch. Now that Halloween is finally here, we are so tired that we just want to be ourselves. Our neighborhood has a lot of kids and our next door neighbor always throws a nice party for the adults, while the kids run around getting more candy. So whatever you decide to do this Halloween, please be safe and have a goolish good time! We sure did!

Tippi Hedren

Ronn and I now have our own collection of a great California wine, Windsor Vineyards. We have a Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot Noir to choose from. My collection will be part of the exclusive Centerfold collection that will launch next week on it’s website. In the meantime, you may start collecting your wines here 683 and I must say they taste great! We also have a wedding collection of Champagne coming soon! Enjoy these awesome wines as much as we do. They are a great addition to any meal, dinner party or holiday gathering.

Hormonal Imbalance

I’m going to get personal and share what has been going on with me for the past couple years as a woman. At first, I thought something was terribly wrong with me. My periods were getting extremely heavy, so much so, that I couldn’t leave my bedroom because I was in extreme pain and discomfort. Forget going to parties or events because I would be down for the count and the bleeding was just enough to make me think I was dying!

My husband, who was then my fiancee’, I know was rethinking if he should indeed marry me. Like clockwork, I would turn into a person he didn’t even know a few days before the dreaded day would present it’s vampire control over my entire being. The kids would put up a cross whenever I walked into a room, as it seemed that I would snap at the slightest remark.

Truly, I was scared. It was getting harder to plan anything social and I was extremely nervous about wearing a wedding dress! I also started to notice that I was overly tired, especially in the afternoon. Dealing with picking up kids from school, cooking and spending time with my fiancee’ was becoming more and more difficult. Plus I was gaining weight in my mid section and it seemed no amount of diet or exercise was getting rid of it!

Then there were the rare times when I had my wonderful amazing fiancee’ all to myself for a date night and found I had no sex drive? I love this man with all my heart and he was feeling neglected because there was just no desire on my part?

All of this was just too confusing for me to understand, so I decided to speak to my OBGYN who was a female. I figured we were close in age, perhaps she would be able to figure out what was wrong with me? She decided to have me do a ultra sound to see if I had any cysts or fibroids, which are very common for most women in their 40s.

The results came back negative and she said she couldn’t understand what my problem was? I explained that I was planning my wedding and wearing a white dress was truly making me anxious. So she put me on a birth control pill called, “Seasonique.” This pill sounded great, no period for four months! I was sold on the spot!

I figured why not try it and at least get through my wedding. My wedding was in September and I started taking this pill in May. The first month seemed pretty good, a little spotting and I had no period! Then all of sudden I started bleeding, which my doctor said spotting was normal.I didn’t have quite the heaviness or the pain, but it lasted almost a month. All of a sudden huge blood clots the size of Texas were coming out of me! I felt like I was dying again and called my doctor who said to come in right away!  As embarrassed as I was already, she said she had to exam me while I was gushing all this blood! She went on to explained that I was lucky not to have an emergency DNC to stop the bleeding and told me I had to multiply taking these pills in hopes that the bleeding would stop. She explain that I would feel nauseous, but that this was my only solution.

The wedding was one month away and I was desperate at this point, so I began taking multiple birth control pills so that I wouldn’t bleed. Three one day, two for a few days and then down to one. If I started to bleed, I would repeat the process. I was also taking iron because I was extremely tired all the time and I felt like a big cream puff from all the swelling around my belly.

Forget having a honeymoon! That would have to wait a while, just get me through the wedding were my only thoughts. I guess the stars lined up for me on my wedding day because it was the most amazing day of my life and everything seemed to just come together, in spite of all the health issues.

We had out of town relatives visiting and staying with us from Australia and everything then started to really take it’s toll on me after the wedding. I stopped taking the pills and immediately started bleeding again. This time it gradually became heavier until I was completely hemorrhaging in the bathroom of a restaurant!

I called my OBGYN after hours and got her father. You see my OBGYN works in the same office with her father, so they are a father and daughter team. He instructed me to go to the emergency room of the nearby hospital immediately!

Two weeks after my dream wedding and I’m in the emergency room of a hospital filled with people down with the swine flu! They check me in, make sure I have insurance and then put me on a cot hooked up to an IV of morphine while I continued to bleed!

Every half hour of so a nurse would come in to check my vitals and after a couple hours, another doctor came in to exam me. I was told that my doctor would be there shortly. A bed pan was brought in and I continued to disburse liver size blood clots. “I’m dying for sure.” “This is it for me, how could I bleed this much and live?”

Finally after about 4 hours, my doctor and her father appeared together and proceed to tell me that they had to do an emergency DNC to stop the bleeding. The hospital was completely full and I would have to wait my turn for this procedure. So I bleed for another 3 hours before I went into surgery at midnight. I asked my doctor just before they wheeled me into that cold sterile room, “What is wrong with me?” She replied, “Honey, you just have one of those uterus’ that we would have said hysterectomy to years ago, now there are less evasive things and I really think we will have to eventually ablate you.”

A uteral ablation is when they remove the lining of the uterus completely.  The next thing I knew, I was signing a bunch of papers, being given what seemed to be my last rites by the anethesiologist as a milky white fluid flowed through my vein. I later learned that was prophidole, the same drug that killed Michael Jackson!

45 minutes later I awakened to a nurse asking me if I wanted her to call my husband.  The next day my doctor called me to see how I was doing. She explained that I should stay on these pills because she thought the bleeding would come back. I said no way! These pills seemed to make me worst not better and I didn’t feel she was trustworthy after that. Why would she want me to stay on these pills? It just didn’t sense, especially at my age!

My husband encouraged me to give it some time and see if my periods would get better off of the pills before giving into a possible surgery. I started researching finding another OBGYN that could maybe help me with my problem when a girlfriend started talking to me about bio identical harmone replacement creams.

She explained, that she had all the same symptoms I had and also thought she was dying! It was a blessing from the universe to know I wasn’t alone and there was a possible solution. She also said she lost 20 lbs the first month she did the creams and got her sex drive back!

My husband was sold on exploring this and I was getting excited at the thought of feeling normal again! Although my periods were better after the DNC, I still felt tired most of the time.

I found a great OBGYN who actually works with famed bio identical expert, Prudence Hall. My new OBGYN had my blood work done and got my records back from my old OBGYN and found that I had a cyst the size of a small plum in my uterus. I was never told that!  Although, cysts are commonly the reason for heavy period bleeding, my old OBGYN didn’t even tell me I had one, much less the size of a small plum!

Now I must have another ultra sound tomorrow morning to see if this size has increased from two years ago! My blood test came back and showed that I have almost no progesterone which is why my libido is almost non existent  and my estrogen is high, although not as high as it would be if I were going into menopause; so that explains the weight gain. She recommended I see Prudence Hall for the bio identical topical creams.

I feel optimistic that I may have a solution to this problem now and wanted to share this personal experience with any woman who may be going through the same issue, as I now know there are many. I’m hoping to make some progress soon with this issue of mine and wish you love and light if you are going through the same thing.

Devin

Ronn and I couldn’t have been more happier than we were this past weekend or this past year for that matter. We have been blessed with good friends, good health, wonderful kids and supportive fans. This is what we celebrated on September 25th, which marked our first year together as husband and wife. It’s been an amazing year of traveling for us as a family and for business. Italy still remains our second home and when we are at home in LA long enough to enjoy it; we love having our friends over for dinners. Our dear friends, Wally and Lori Crowder hosted a little dinner celebration with some of our wedding party including, Cindy Margolis, Nadia Bjorlin and Tina Hillstrom. The weather was lovely and the dinner was catered beautifully. Ronn and I got to do something we didn’t get to do on our wedding day, eat! We are grateful to have such wonderful friends and feel blessed and honored to have each other. Thank you all for the wonderful gifts and comments on our special day. We love you all!

It was a last minute request from Milly Carlucci that invited Ronn, Katherine Kelly Lang and me to Salsomaggiore, Italy for the 70th annual Miss Italia Pageant. This year Milly Carlucci hosted the three day live televised event. Ronn and Katherine were judging the “Miss Cinema” portion of the event. This four hour live broadcast showcased some of Italy’s most beautiful women and this year was looking for beauty and talent, as the top 9 girls auditioned for a part in an Italian movie as “Miss Cinema” The stage was set to display some of the most gorgeous women we had ever seen. I thought the show was great and that Milly Carlucci did a fabulous job. It certainly wasn’t an easy task for Ronn and Katherine! All of our clothing was provided by our dear friend designer, Laura Biagiotti.  Ronn and Katherine did a little dance, when a surprise guest entered the stage,  very pregnant! Sara DiViara looked so beautiful and elegant when she made her surprise appearance during Ronn and Katherine’s dance. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0prneJosrw] It felt like “Ballando con let stelle” revisited because of the many cast and crew that were there with Milly working on “Miss Italia” The weekend was short and sweet for us. Great Italian food, wine and friends! Apparently, Sofia Loren was the first to win this title and is helping the judges crown the winner on Monday night!

In the airport waiting to fly like a bird to Italy. For some reason, they asked me to judge the Miss Italia pageant. Tough job. But I’ll endure. For me, it’s a chance to watch a bunch of movies and suck down a couple glasses of vino. Well, …. ok, maybe more than a couple. Hey, I’ve got to rehearse for when I arrive in Italy! Isn’t that all they drink there? Actually, I get to see my wonderful friend, Milly Carlucci, who is hosting this show, and pretty much every other show in Italy as well. She is an absolute sweetheart and I love her dearly. Will take some pix and vid and put it up asap.  Love you all.  —-R

Is it just me, or did the Emmys seem more like a mini version of  the Oscars? I thought television  would recognize television stars and I saw more movie stars being recognized. Stars such as, Susan Serandon, Al Pacino and Dennis Quaid who were big movie stars that didn’t do television at one time, weren’t they? Also, cable was considered a step below prime time television and now the most recognized shows are on cable. HBO rules television with shows like Entourage and True Blood. Seems there were very few real television stars being recognized at this year’s Emmys. Reality television now has it’s own catagory also, so just about anybody can be recognized on television today. No longer is television strictly for television stars. It’s sort of annoying to watch these people pat themselves on the back for what is really a bunch of crap. It’s also annoying that people who once turned their noses at television and only did movies are now the ones being recognized on television. I think the Emmys should recognize television people period and the Oscars should recognize movie people period. Also, if television is going to recognize reality they should stop dividing daytime actors from night time actors because it’s a joke now. Daytime actors should be more respected than reality people, they work much harder and it makes me angry to see this division. Wake up Hollywood because it doesn’t make sense anymore! The Internet has changed the way we view things now and soon enough your computer will be your television set, it already is becoming so. The stupid division of Daytime Emmy and Night time Emmy division will soon be history. Hollywood needs to stop recognizing movie stars in television because those people are not television stars to begin with. The Emmys were boring to me and I think in general television is boring. There are very few shows that are worth watching period. If the Emmys is the best of television, then I feel sorry for television right now. Personally HBO does have the best programming, but then again it’s not television, it’s HBO right?

I thought I’d share some of my favorite recipes with you guys on a regular basis since so many of you are asking what to use the Cajun spice on and how I cook alot of the dinners I tweet about for Ronn and the girls. This is a quick and easy recipe that I call, “Steak Devin” and of course I use a generous amount of “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning” on it. You can use our Cajun spice on everything from soups, salads, steaks, chicken and veggies. It gives food such flavor and just the right amount of kick to spice things up! Enjoy this dish with your favorite veggie, it’s low in calories and tastes delicious!

Recipe of the week, “Steak Devin”
Makes 6 servings
Ingredients

* 1 1/2  pounds  fat-trimmed narrow end of beef tenderloin
* 1  to 1 1/2 tablespoons coarse-ground pepper
* 3/4  cup  finely chopped shallots or onion
* 2  tablespoons  butter or margarine
* 1/4  cup  dry white wine
* 1/4  cup  white wine vinegar
* 1/2  cup  beef broth
* 2  teaspoons  dry mustard
* 1  tablespoon  Dijon mustard
* 1/3  cup  whipping cream
* 2  tablespoons  dry sherry
* 2  tablespoons  brandy
* Salt &
Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning

Preparation

1. Cut thickest part of beef across the grain into 1 1/2-inch-long pieces. Cut thinnest end into 2-inch-long pieces. Turn each piece onto a cut side and press down firmly to flatten.

2. Sprinkle meat evenly on each side with pepper, pressing it onto the surface.

3. In an 11- to 12-inch nonstick frying pan, combine shallots and 1 tablespoon butter. Stir over high heat until shallots are limp, about 1 1/2 minutes. Add white wine, vinegar, broth, dry mustard, Dijon mustard, and cream. Boil over high heat, stirring, until reduced by half (to 3/4 cup), 5 to 7 minutes. Pour sauce into a small bowl and set aside. Rinse pan and wipe dry.

4. Return frying pan to high heat. When hot, add remaining butter and swirl until it melts, then add meat (pieces should all fit in pan without overlapping). Brown beef on one side, about 2 1/2 minutes. Turn over and continue to cook until brown, about 2 1/2 minutes more for rare.

5. Transfer beef to a warm plate. Add sherry, brandy, and sauce to pan. Stir until bubbling. Pour the sauce, and any juices drained from the meat, onto plates. Top with the beef. Add Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning and salt to taste.

After spending a glorious week in Hawaii, Ronn and I were happy to sleep in our own bed. It was also wonderful to have our dear friends from Italy, Lavinia Biagiotti and her boyfriend Francesco visiting us. They made the drive out from Santa Monica and encountered a massive amount of traffic along Pacific Coast Hwy around 5pm yesterday and didn’t get to us until about 7pm for dinner. We wondered why there was so much traffic and learned that Obama was in town, so we of course thought that he was the reason. When I wake up every morning, I like to lie in bed and read the news on my ipad and the first thing I read  this morning was about the tragic death of a dear friend, renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Frank Ryan. He was only 5o years old and died yesterday at 4:30pm when his jeep turned over on Pacific coast hwy in Malibu. This is what contributed to our Italian’s friends traffic woes getting to us yesterday, not Obama. I woke Ronn up with the news and we both were in shocked over the loss of such a dear, sweet soul. Within minutes, our phone rang and a reporter was asking me to give comments on Dr. Frank’s death. It seemed so surreal since we had just seen him at the Playboy mansion’s midsummer night dream’s party a couple weeks prior. Ronn and I celebrated his 50th birthday at his wonderful “Bony Pony Ranch” in Malibu a couple months ago and the kids always loved going there to see all the animals. Dr. Frank was just an all around great guy and a wonderful friend for many years to us both. I met him over 15 years ago when he first arrived in LA from Ohio and have watched him blossom into the ultimate plastic surgeon to the stars. I use to always ask him if I needed anything when I would see him and he would say that I made a pack with the devil because I didn’t, but that when I did he would happily attend to anything I needed. I always imagined if I were to ever have plastic surgery, Dr. Frank would be the only guy I would trust to work on me and now he’s gone and it’s just so hard to believe. We are truly going to miss him and want to send him lots of love and light . I know that everyone who knew Dr. Frank feels this way about him and world will just not be the same without him in it. It light of the tragedy, his border collie Jill was in the jeep with him and survived the crash. Jill gives new meaning to the phrase, “lucky dog.” I’m sure Dr. Frank will be in her heart and ours for a very long time.

Ronn has a month off of B&B to rest and relax this summer and that starts now. We decided to drive near Yosemite to hang out with my pal Alana Curry and fellow Playmates LuAnn Lee and Jacqueline Sheen and their boyfriends to have fun swimming, jet skiing, boating and water skiing on a beautiful lake. It is just what Ronn loves to do to unwind himself into vacation mode. It’s also great for me because the cabin has Internet and enables me to keep up with everyone and it has a big beautiful kitchen for me to cook in so I feel right at home! I’ve enjoyed introducing everyone to “Devin’s Kickass Seasoning” with dishes like, Salmon and caper Buccatini, Lental soup and Steak Devin with Roasted potatoes. Ronn and I have been sleeping in every morning and enjoying every second of this amazing place. We plan to stop off and check out Yosemite before heading to our own cabin and picking up the kids next week. We will then head to Hawaii with them for a family vacation before Ronn heads back to work in mid August. It always seems like the summer just flies by with the kids, their friends, our friends and traveling. So we are just trying to enjoy every minute of it. I plan to finally finish my next book, “True Age, Timeless Beauty” as well as, make up some new recipes of course. We are also planning to renovate our cabin by next year so that we can have friends come and hang out with us there. Ronn just loves editing all the video he shoots and enjoys the peace and quite there. So we hope to spend more time at our cabin once it’s remodeled. Hope you are all enjoying the summer as much as we are!

I wanted to get a few of my girlfriends over for an all girl pow wow before the summer got to busy and thought we’d celebrate my birthday. There were about 20 of us outside by the pool and since it was getting a little too hot, we moved everyone under this cabana area to snack on finger sandwiches and champagne punch. I started opening presents and was just screaming over my purple custom made blinged out cell phone case made by my neighbor Sharyn. Then my pal Sandi Taylor wowed me with this cute bunny ring and rose colored beach bag. More bling followed with picture frames, jewelry boxes and earrings, chocolates, roses, beauty products and sexy clothing! The girls all looked so beautiful since only I would have a brunch in the middle of the week and many of my pals work or have kids to pick up. I feel so blessed to have so many amazing gals in my life. My dear friend Fiona Horne’s birthday is the day before mine, so she’s my soul sister and we blew out the candles together. Ronn had to work so he missed out on seeing all the pretty girls having a blast in our backyard, but arrived just as the last few girls were leaving. My pal Alana Curry and Fiona ended up hanging out a bit longer to chat with us around the fire pit. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day with the girls! I’m looking forward to more gatherings out by the pool this summer!
